The Civil Wars burst onto the scene last year and then I forgot about them almost completely (damn you iTunes shuffle!). So, it was a wonderful surprise when Joy & John dropped into Studio Q to remind us why we loved them in the first place. They are just going to get better and better and better and ... Although it's sooo last year, be sure you have a copy of Barton Hollow and their debut EP Poison & Wine.

More of The Civil Wars including an in-studio appearance on KCRW that featured all their trademark songs with covers of Leonard Cohen and The Jackson 5 -- plus CDs in our ebay store starting at 99 cents. More of The Civil Wars!

One of the joys of NPR's Tiny Desk Concert is their willingness to showcase instrumental artists. Much like I was floored with Rodrigo y Gabriela's appearance in 2009, Nathan Salsburg strums his way into my musical library with two instrumental songs (supposedly about race horses, but who cares -- the dude can play!) from his debut record Affirmed.

More Nathan Salsburg and another concert from Rodrigo y Gabriela along with their CDs starting at 99 cents. More Nathan Salsburg!

Here's the 2012 version of the song that made all of us fall hard for The Shins ...
Well, has it held up for ya?!?!

I'm doing my absolute best to like the new Norah Jones' disc Little Broken Hearts, but it's just not happening. Danger Mouse produced this new release and I had high hopes after 2011's great Rome record which featured Norah Jones and Jack White. The same magic just isn't to be found. Don't get me wrong, it's a decent record -- and yes, her voice(!!!!), however, well, yeah ... Check out her latest appearance on The Late Show with David Letterman.

Raphael Saadiq had to endure Chelsea Handler on Chelsea Lately for a little more exposure for his latest Stone Rollin' release. I still absolutely love his NPR Tiny Desk Concert from 2009.

Bummer! The full concert video has been taken down and only bits and pieces of the two hour concert are up. If you haven't done so already, get your hands on Blunderbuss -- and if you are so fortunate enough, listen to it on vinyl!

The rest of the Unstaged concert along with Jack White & WHITE STRIPES CDs and Vinyl starting at 99 cents. More Jack White!

I was so excited to read that Hospitality was going to be given the exposure of being on NPR's Tiny Desk Concert. Their debut record, self titled Hospitality, is a bunch of fun and so it was oddly surprising to watch the Tiny Desk Concert and see that they have little to no charisma while performing. If you've never heard anything by Hospitality then start with the bouncy melody of "Liberal Arts" and then grab/download/stream a copy of the new record.

Well, here it is finally ... Blunderbuss! Jack White headlined the latest BBC Later with Jools Holland with fours songs (including the White Stripes' "Ball and Biscuit") and two interviews. Not exactly a full concert, but put it together with his clips from SNL, The Colbert Report, and other surprises on the next page and it will do as Blunderbuss to continues to dominate our ipods, car stereos, and turntables.
